Survey: OTC derivatives gain in popularity despite regulation

A Bank for International Settlements survey found that despite regulators' efforts to rein in over-the-counter derivatives, traders' use of the instruments, particularly interest-rate swaps and foreign exchange options, has increased. The survey also showed that foreign exchange trading has soared more than a third in the past three years, reaching $5.3 trillion worth of transactions a day.
