UAVs for vineyards, fires and submarine spying

Companies are researching a wide range of new applications for commercial unmanned aerial vehicles, including data-gathering for fighting wildfires, monitoring threatened wildlife, spraying vineyards and scanning underwater for enemy submarines. Defense giants including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and others are researching new aerial UAV uses while firms such as Textron and SAIC are focusing on undersea UAVs.
