U.S. military may bring chemical-arms destroying technology to Syria

U.S. Air Force bombs that can destroy chemical weapons instantly may be on tap for use in a strike in Syria, but for larger stockpiles, the Army has the answer. The Field Deployable Hydrolysis System "is designed to convert chemical agents into compounds not usable as weapons. Neutralization is achieved by mixing the agent with water and other chemicals and heating it," according to Jennifer Elzea, a Defense Department spokeswoman.
