Out-of-home segment enjoys 8.2% sales gain

Out-of-home advertising grew by 8.2% to $3.5 billion in the first half of 2006, with eight of 10 categories posting higher revenue, according to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. The top category -- local services and amusements -- rose 18.4% to $528.4 million, while insurance and real estate grew by 20.7% to take the No. 2 spot from media and advertising. Public transportation, hotels and resorts moved up from fifth to third on growth of 18.6%.
