FDA reviewer backs Gardasil's effectiveness in male patients

An FDA staff member affirmed the safety and efficacy of Merck & Co.'s vaccine Gardasil as a preventive regimen against genital warts caused by human papillomavirus in young men and boys. The employee's memo was released ahead of an FDA panel meeting Wednesday on the expanded use of Gardasil, which is approved to protect young women and girls against HPV.
