China risks protectionist backlash, a U.S. official warns

China is increasing the possibility of protectionist backlash from Congress by failing to address U.S. concern about the value of the yuan and intellectual property protection, said Robert Hormats, under secretary of the U.S. State Department for economic, energy and agricultural affairs. Legislation is likely to be introduced in Congress that would affect trade between the countries if China doesn't respond to U.S. complaints about its trade policy, Hormats said.
