Report: Smart meter installments drive SGIG investments

CenterPoint Energy and Florida Power & Light have installed 2.6 million smart meters since 2009 thanks to funding from the federal government's Smart Grid Investment Grant, making them the two leading SGIG companies, according to a recent analysis by Zpryme. The research firm found that the top 10 SGIG projects have spent a total of $1.12 billion on their smart grid programs, with smart meters accounting for more than three-quarters of the outlay.
