Growth of Internet capacity is decelerating, researchers say

The global bandwidth of the Internet has increased 40% this year to 77 terabits per second, the lowest growth rate seen in five years, according to TeleGeography. The market research firm attributed this to slowing additions of broadband customers in developed countries, wider adoption of content delivery networks and local caching technologies. TeleGeography also reported that international Internet traffic rose 35% this year, compared with 39% growth in 2011.
