Analysis: Signs are encouraging for Afghan forces

As U.S. involvement in Afghanistan winds down, there are encouraging signs that Afghan security forces are making headway as they take the lead on the battlefield, according to Ian Livingston and Michael E. O'Hanlon of the Brookings Institution. "The overall assessment that we reach here gives grounds for guarded optimism, though of course we are a long ways from the finish line," they write.
