FDA could face backlog in scrutinizing mobile health apps

The FDA is in the process of deciding how much it wants to regulate mobile-health applications, but once it does, some of the 97,000 apps available in this space via online stores will have to gain government approval. The FDA has already alerted one app developer, Biosense Technologies, that its self-diagnosis strips needed to clear the agency.
