N.Y. yogurt and milk industries are booming

In the one year since Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Yogurt Summit, New York has overtaken California as the No. 1 yogurt producer in the U.S., and industry growth continues with the addition of two new yogurt plants in Batavia, N.Y., including Alpina's $225 million plant, that has so far created over 160 new jobs. The yogurt boom has also brought growth to the state's milk industry, which posted a 3% increase in production without additional cows.
