Retired specialists can jump to primary care with online course

A retired surgeon in California has launched an online course aimed at helping specialists switch to primary care without going back to medical school. The Physician Retraining & Reentry curriculum was developed by the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine and involves 100 hours of instruction. "Primary care, family medicine, is a specialty today," said founder Dr. Leonard Glass. "The retired doctors know that, and they know they're not competent to do it without additional training."
