Transit agency goes mobile for ticketing

Transit riders in Portland, Ore., can now buy tickets anywhere with their mobile devices and use them on buses and trains. "[M]obile payments and ticketing adds a convenient option for customers with no capital investment or need for additional equipment on each bus or rail platform. ... [M]obile tickets have the potential to save TriMet and other transit agencies millions of dollars a year," said Mac Brown, director of Communications at GlobeSherpa, which helped develop the mobile application for Portland's TriMet transit agency.
