Zoning change approval may advance $15B chip fabrication project in N.Y.

GlobalFoundries' $14.7 billion proposal to build a chip fabrication facility in Stillwater, N.Y., could move ahead after the Town Board granted final approvals for zoning changes for the project. The firm doesn't have a timeline for deciding whether to build the factory, but the approvals will make it easier to estimate its total cost, according to Mike Russo, the company's director of government relations.
