Commentary: Following the glycemic index

A diet based on the glycemic index is emerging as a compromise between low-carb and low-fat diets, Washington Post columnist Sally Squires writes. The diet encourages consumption of low glycemic foods -- those that do not raise blood sugar as high as other foods -- such as vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and olive oil.
