School construction goes green as communities seek energy savings

Green construction is making its way to the schoolhouse, as communities strive to find creative solutions to soaring energy costs by using energy-efficient techniques. Some municipalities have resisted adopting green building techniques out of concern that up-front costs are increased, but experts say the more durable materials and design are worthwhile in the long run, giving longer life and costing less over the life of the project.
