Start-up rocket firm wins $30M government pact

Start-up rocket maker Space Exploration Technologies won a $30 million contract to launch a U.S. satellite into orbit. Space Exploration is a young company and has not yet completed a first launch. It is preparing to compete against Boeing and Lockheed Martin by developing a more powerful version of its first rocket. Government officials are following the company's work on its smallest rocket because the device could give the military the ability to deploy small satellites within hours.
