Dish, Echostar to pay nearly $200M in patent case with TiVo

The U.S. District Court for Eastern Texas has fined sister companies Dish Network and EchoStar nearly $200 million in the firms' protracted patent dispute with TiVo. TiVo had asked for about $1 billion in damages, but the court ruled that a sanction based on $2.25 per DVR subscriber per month would be more fair.
