A study on myocardial perfusion imaging studies conducted on patients found that SPECT/CT misregistration of attenuation-corrected MPI can greatly affect image quality, specifically of the dorsal/ventral axis. The findings "provide guidance before the performance of manual realignment using registration software tools, demonstrating that priority should be given to cases showing overlay of the myocardium on SPECT with lung tissue on the CT component of AC-MPI studies," the researchers said.
