There are numerous options for plants and trees that bloom in the fall. Trees such as the Sugar Maple, which must be planted away from the coast, and the River Birch can be excellent choices, according to Cheryl Lajoie, an advanced certified horticulturalist. And, plants such as the Nandina and the Black Gum and shrubs such as the Purple Diamond Compact Loropetalum are also solid additions to a fall garden, according to Meg French of Meg French Landscape Design.
