Firms ready IPOs even as investor mood remains sour

There are at least 161 companies waiting to go to market with initial public offerings, according to Renaissance Capital. Altogether, there is $56 billion waiting in the pipeline. In some cases, these offerings have been shelved for years, with the companies waiting for a recovery in the stock market. The mood among investors is still sour, but some firms are planning to go forward anyway.
