Italy needs to embrace nuclear energy, study says

Italy needs to construct nuclear power plants curb its reliance on energy imports and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, according to an international study. Italy could save as much as $88 billion and slash about 381 million tons in emissions with nuclear facilities starting to operate in 2020. Such a plan would also help generate jobs, spur economic growth and lessen political risks, said International Energy Agency Chief Economist Fatih Birol, one of the experts.
