City uses GIS to guide public transportation development

The South African city of Cape Town is embarking on a three-year project to use geographic information systems to monitor the city's transportation system. Units installed on buses, in taxis and in other forms of public transportation will gather data on the busiest areas and allocate resources accordingly.
