Commentary: FHFA's MBS claims much lower than estimated

Late last week, the Federal Housing Finance Agency sued 17 major financial institutions over about $196 billion in mortgage-backed securities. However, the FHFA does not have anywhere near $196 billion in claims, according to columnist Alison Frankel. She explains how the FHFA's claims might be just a few billion dollars.
