Pets' dental disease is common but preventable

About 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some form of dental disease by age 2, according to AVMA data, but some simple steps can prevent painful conditions and pricey treatments later, veterinarians advise. Twice-yearly veterinary exams, annual teeth cleanings and twice-a-week tooth-brushing sessions can go a long way toward preventing dental problems.
