This year's U.S. Open is one of the greenest tennis tournaments ever, organizers say, with players' travel-related emissions being canceled out using purchased carbon offsets. Organizers will also recycle seven times as many plastic bottles as they did in 2008, and 26,000 credential-holding lanyards for support staff were made by reusing plastic bric-a-brac left over from the previous year.
