Changing industry prompts Albertsons closings

SUPERVALU plans to close 26 Albertsons stores this year, as traditional supermarkets face competition from discount, dollar and specialty-food stores. "The traditional grocery store is something of a dinosaur," food analyst Jim Prevor said. "The core question is whether it can be reinvented and re-created or whether we have to have a lot fewer of them."
