CMS to add online enrollment for providers

Next year, physicians and other providers may be able to complete some of their Medicare enrollment processes online. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will add a front end to their Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System, and says it should shorten the enrollment process by about half. However, CMS will not accept electronic signatures, so paper forms must still be mailed in, and some express skepticism that the online process will fix the problems with enrollment.
