PHRs could reduce redundancies and be a vehicle for better patient care, says Dr. Matthew K. Wynia, director of the Institute for Ethics at the American Medical Association. But he also wonders how a physician could be expected to know all that's contained in a voluminous record and how a physician might moderate his or her notes knowing that a patient could see them.
