Continental to charge for first checked bag

Continental Airlines is looking to offset fuel costs by charging some passengers a $15 fee to check their first piece of luggage. The fee will not apply to EliteAccess customers, military personnel and those flying on full-fare economy-class tickets. Passengers who buy tickets within the U.S., the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada and Puerto Rico will be charged.
