Chemical plants in Louisiana worked over the weekend to get back to full operation after closing down before Hurricane Gustav last week as a safety precaution. Many plants in the Baton Rouge-New Orleans corridor lost power during the storm, and once power was restored, some needed 72 hours or more to power back up. "All in all, it appears, at least on Friday, that our industry has gotten through this fairly well," said Dan Borné, spokesman for the Louisiana Chemical Association. "It remains to be seen if any there are any issues as the industry continues ramping up to full processes."
