Flight attendants complain of increased injuries

Citing 143 flight attendant injuries so far this year, the Association of Flight Attendants is calling for further protections in case of turbulence. "It seems as if there is some complacency on the issue," says Christopher Witkowski, the union's director of air safety. "We look into every injury from turbulence to determine if and when procedures need to be changed," says a spokesman for the FAA, which has issued an 11-page guidance that stresses flexibility and good judgment over set routines in cases of severe turbulence.
