Florida has only a single LEED Platinum building

Just one Florida building has achieved LEED Platinum status, observers say. That compares with 34 platinum buildings in California, 13 in Illinois and 10 in New York. Experts say achieving a platinum rating is more difficult in states with hot and humid climates. LEED certification pushes construction costs higher, but experts also note that green buildings typically have lower operating costs.
