Growing Texas population exacerbates doctor shortage

Texas' growing population, due in part to a high birth rate and new residents coming from other states, is putting a strain on access to primary care providers, particularly in rural areas, advocacy groups say. The state has 27 counties with no physician at all, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
