P&G, Kroger share city but have different recession experience

While the recession has cut into sales of Procter & Gamble products, Kroger has benefited from a surge of interest in its private-label brands. The two Cincinnati-based companies are wooing cash-strapped customers, as P&G promises to cut some prices and offer more coupons, and Kroger plans to improve packaging and pump up advertising for its store brands.
