Specially developed probiotics may prevent gut disease

Australian researchers said they have developed "receptor-mimic probiotics" that can bind to toxins and prevent certain diseases in the gut, though they wouldn't prevent infection. The lead researcher said the work was intended to prevent disease from certain strains of E. coli, but they also created probiotics to prevent cholera and travelers' diarrhea.
