Investors cite "flash crash" as a cause for stock-fund withdrawals

Individual investors are continuing to withdraw money from stock mutual funds, and the "flash crash" is increasingly being noted as the event that triggered the trend. Mary Schapiro, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, said brokers informed the agency that retail investors "have pulled back" from the market since May 6.
