Omni becomes a major player in the convention-hotel market

Omni Hotels & Resorts has been making strides in becoming a major player in the convention center-hotel market. The chain, owned by billionaire Robert Rowling's TRT Holdings, was approved last week to build an 800-room hotel next to the convention center in Nashville, Tenn. And Omni also is a final contender to build a 500-room convention hotel in Pittsburgh and is in talks with Boston to build a convention hotel with more than 1,000 rooms. The deals are in addition to the three convention hotels the company already owns and a fourth that is under construction.
