Asia-Pacific app market is surging; outlook is even brighter

App downloads among mobile users in the Asia-Pacific region will surge to 5 billion this year and 14 billion in 2016, according to an Ovum study. Meanwhile, revenue from paid apps is projected to rise to $871 million in 2011, nearly tripling the $302 million last year. And Android is expected to overtake Apple's iOS in total downloads.
