Offshore-wind plans in R.I., Mass., Texas are gaining ground

Offshore-wind projects in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Texas are gaining ground, thanks to improving market conditions and efforts by the federal government to streamline leases for offshore land parcels. The federal government could issue the first leases for Rhode Island and Massachusetts offshore wind farms as early as next year. Meanwhile, Coastal Point Energy announced that it is likely to install its first offshore wind turbine near Galveston, Texas, later this year.
