Offshore-wind studies in Del., Pa. land $2.2M in federal grants

The Department of Energy awarded a total of $2.2 million in funding to three offshore-wind projects by researchers from the University of Delaware and Pennsylvania State University. The University of Delaware will get $500,000 to study the design of offshore wind farms and $540,000 to evaluate the potential impact of integrating offshore wind in the Mid-Atlantic power grid. Penn State will receive $1.2 million to study the effects of waves and winds on offshore wind turbines.
