Veterinarians report shortages of basic medications

Three basic drugs including the antibiotic Amikacin aren't available at the moment and a host of others including anesthetics and chemotherapy drugs are in short supply, making it difficult and potentially more expensive for veterinarians to treat their patients, says Florida veterinarian Teresa Goodson. There are other options for many of the drugs, but they come at a cost, she says. "Often times, those medications are more expensive, significantly more expensive."
