DOT clears United's plans for San Francisco flights to Chengdu, China

United Continental will begin nonstop trips from San Francisco to Chengdu, China, next June. The U.S. Department of Transportation approved a proposal for the flights. The Chinese government still has to approve the plans. Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province in the southwest of China and will be the ninth city the U.S. carrier serves from San Francisco.
