How one Ohio teacher uses science to teach world history

High-school students in Ernest Daugherty's World History class are retracing the work of early scientists by using tools similar to those used by early astronomers. Daugherty, a teacher at Lima Senior High School in Ohio, is using astronomy to launch into lessons on the Age of Reason, the Enlightenment and how philosophy, government and culture were influenced throughout history. Daugherty said he has collaborated with art teachers to include works of art from pre-Renaissance to the Reformation and Scientific Revolution periods in his lessons.
