Architect believes WTC redevelopment will be inspiring

Daniel Libeskind, whose design won the competition for the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site, said yesterday that he believed the finished project would be close to his original design and would be "something fantastic, something inspiring, something which speaks about [Sept. 11] and the heroes of the day, something which reasserts Manhattan as capital of the world and creativity." Libeskind and site developer Larry Silverstein disagreed over space and safety issues of the design and architect David Childs is now the lead project architect.
