Japan's Access buys PalmSource

Access Co., maker of the NetFront Internet browser for mobile devices, is buying California-based software maker PalmSource for $324 million. The acquisition is part of Access' broader strategy to diversify its product offerings for the mobile market. Palm is best known for making the operating system that runs nearly 40 million PDAs, smart phones and other handheld devices.
