Louisiana schools request nearly $3B in federal aid

Louisiana Superintendent Cecil J. Picard said the state's school system will need $2.8 billion in federal aid to get schools damaged by Hurricane Katrina up and running. Picard said up to 100,000 students displaced by the storm could return to their home schools by January 2006.
