Broadband More Prevalent in Canada than U.S.

Growth in Internet users in Canada is projected to be just 3.7% in 2008, but the online population is approaching 23 million people -- over two-thirds of the country. By 2012, more than 25 million people, or 72.7% of the population will be online. Broadband is more prevalent in Canada than in many other countries, including the U.S. Broadband penetration is also growing more quickly than the online population. About two-thirds of households have broadband in 2008, but three-quarters will benefit from high-speed connections by 2012.
