The cycle starts with a steep upward curve toward the Peak of Inflated Expectation; then it falls into the Trough of Disillusionment, gently climbs onto the Slope of Enlightenment and plateaus on the Plateau of Productivity. Weissmann's Hype Cycle includes everything from booking applications for hand-held devices to travel agency service fees.
