Two water main breaks in the San Fernando Valley within 72 hours have raised concerns about the region's aging infrastructure. A sinkhole opened up on Tuesday in Valley Village, stranding a fire truck in deep water. Most of the 7,200 miles of pipe running underneath the metro area dates from the housing booms of the 1920s and 1940s.
